Awakening, blooming from the top down. Dark roses open on lilac while a lantern of orange light rises through the green — enlightenment pictured as a garden coming into flower. The Bodhisattva is the one who stays for the sake of that blooming.

I made this on the same day I finally walked into the Half Gallery. I had passed it a thousand times, and that day an exhibit gave me the courage to go in and see it, the orange piece from Tommy May's "Sammy's" collection. This one came from that same courage.
